Anica Allen, Senior Warden
Anica Allen serves as Senior Warden of the Vestry. Anica has attended Saint George's Episcopal Church since November 2017. She is a member of the Zoom Guild, an occasional Acolyte, and part of the 7:30 family. Anica is also a software engineer who gardens, lifts weights, and cyclist (who sometimes bikes to church).

Erika Gilmore, Junior WardenList Item 2
Erika Gilmore returns to the Vestry after small hiatus. A member of St. George's since 2000, Erika has served in various capacities such as Finishing The Dream construction renovation committee, annual convention delegate, and choir member. In addition, Erika represents St. George's in the Diocese as member of the Standing Committee, the Resolutions Committee, and past member of the Campus Ministry Advisory Group. Erika is a seasoned construction and project manager by day, and strives to create a one day flourishing home garden by night.

Gregory Evans
Gregory Evans is making his third turn as a member of the vestry. Raised in the evangelical Lutheran church, Gregory was received into the Episcopal church in 1989 while courting his now wife, Janis. During his time as a parishioner Gregory has been president of the men of St. George's, counselor for the youth program, and served on the finance committee. As life long lover and student of music Gregory is currently a member of the parish voices choir. Gregory also serves as a lay reader, member of the building and grounds, and music and arts committees. He also serves on the counting team. In addition he is currently president of province III for The Brotherhood of St. Andrews. Gregory is a certified non-profit professional. As a retired government worker Gregory enjoys tai chi/kung fu, swimming, motorcycling, and traveling.

David Nicholson
A long-time member of St. George's, David Nicholson renewed his association with the church during the pandemic. A former reporter for the Associated Press and the Dayton (Ohio) Daily News, he was an associate editor of The Washington Post Book World, where he also wrote a weekly book review. He is the author of "The Garretts of Columbia: A Black South Carolina Family from Slavery to the Dawn of Integration," "Flying Home: Seven Stories of the Secret City," a collection set in Washington's Bloomingdale neighborhood, and "Ghosts: Stories."

Gordon Smith
Gordon is a life long Episcopalian. He joined St. Georges in 1991 after moving his family from Houston, Texas and has been married for 43 years. He previously served two Vestry terms. In addition to the Vestry, Gordon serves on the Finance Committee, Building and Grounds Committee, and as Lead Usher. He is a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew and the Men of St. Georges. Gordon received the Man of the Year Award in June 2008. He also co-chaired the International Sunday Ministry for over 15 years. Now retired, he enjoys walking and racquetball for his leisure exercises.

Gayle Shuford, Vestry Clerk
Gayle Shuford returns to the Vestry as a Vestry Secretary in 2025. She previously served as Vestry Secretary in 1998
alongside her father Dr. Frank Shuford, Jr, when he was a Vestry member. As a lifetime member of St. George’s, she has served in many capacities and on numerous committees over the years. Currently, she serves as a Lay reader, is a member of the Building and Grounds Committee, assists on the Altar Guild, served on the 2025 Homecoming and Rector Emeritus Celebration, and served on the latest St. George’s Seminarian lay committee. When not working at the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Gayle enjoys volunteer community service activities as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, gardening, outdoor walks and hikes, traveling, and spending time with family and close friends.

Andrea Thomas, Treasurer
Andrea just began serving as St George's Treasurer. She has attended St. George's since she was stationed here with the Coast Guard 1998. Her mother introduced her to the parish. Andrea is an acolyte, lay eucharistic minister and has served as a delegate to the Diocesan convention. She has been a member of numerous Seminarian lay committees and served on the Vestry for 6 years. She has also been a member of two different diocesan committees. She is a retired Coast Guard officer on her second career as a Branch Manager of a public Library. When she isn't running her library she loves to swim, kayak and smoke anything on her grill.
