Something to Ponder
.
Sam Keen, the author of the book on Gabriel Marcel in the Makers of Contemporary Theology series, has this to say about one of the central categories in Marcels thought which is "spiritual availability".

"To be available is to be so uncluttered by a sense of one's own importance, so unthreatened by the strangeness of others, that one may enter immediately into communion."

This quote from Keen brings to mind that part of the Baptismal Covenant which asks: "Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?" The corresponding answer to that question is this: "I will with God's help."

In the current political climate in this country we would do well to ponder these things in our hearts. More importantly, we would do well to act on them.
